Help us build New England’s arts and cultural community

Art and cultural activities bring about personal enjoyment, by enriching perspectives, intellectual stimulation, and opportunities for public involvement.

But the arts have broader impacts beyond the individual level. They can fuel community and economic development. Communities are continually competing to get the most talented and brightest workers by selling them on the cultural vibrancy of their communities—the restaurants, art galleries, music scene, architecture, public gardens, and so on. In fact, the cities that are most successful in attracting workers are the ones that have exciting art and cultural offerings.

The arts and culture sector is an integral part of the new economy.

Bringing artist and the community together

As I look around the New England music scene, I am continually impressed by the talent in my own back yard so to speak. Whether you live in the big city, like Boston, Portsmouth, and Portland, or the backwoods of Vermont, NH, and Maine, wicked good music is everywhere.

In fact it’s hard NOT to find something exciting happening locally, every night of the week. I often wish I could clone myself so I could be at more than one show on the same night. And the support from local clubs, bars & restaurants is incredible.

If you know of a show I should see, do me a favor and post it on our event page. Who knows, you just might see me clapping my hands, stomping my feet, and singing off key right there beside you.

Great homegrown talent abounds In fact, I challenge you each and every one of you to pick a night and not find someone performing nearby. I encourage everyone to turn off the TV, get up off the couch, and go support our many talented independent artists.
